Dear Glen Mar friends,

On Sunday, 3/20 at 7 pm we will have a Prayer Service for Peace in Ukraine and in our world. I encourage you to come out for that and to bring friends and neighbors. It will not be live streamed but we will gather to pray and sing and light candles, to call upon our Lord and Savior who is Prince of Peace. There is a Facebook “Event” for the service that you can share with friends. We will take up an offering to help the people of Ukraine through the United Methodist Committee on Relief, who is working directly with churches and agencies in Ukraine and other countries that are receiving refugees.

When we read of peace in the Bible, it is not about simply the absence of conflict. It is something that God gives—God’s Shalom. Shalom is about wholeness for the whole community, it is peace “not as the world gives,” as Jesus says, but God’s peace. Tied up in Shalom is provision of resources for all…as it says in Micah 4:4, the Mountain of the Lord is a place where “Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war anymore. Everyone will sit under their own vine and under their own fig tree, and no one will make them afraid, for the LORD Almighty has spoken.”

When our world is so broken and anxious, we turn to our Lord, and cry out on behalf of those in need, and commit ourselves to the Way of Christ, a Way of Shalom, a Way of Justice, a Way of Love.

Sunday morning we will have church at 9:30 and 11:00 and will be working on giving up “Exhausting Ourselves” by looking at the 10 Commandments and Sabbath rest, as well as commissioning new Stephen Ministry Leaders. You will not want to miss it!

See you in church,
Pastor Mandy
