VBS Breakfast Donations Needed!-July 7-11. Our amazing team of volunteers will be treated to breakfast each day to feed their bodies and join in fellowship with each other. We need your support to provide food for each day! Check out the VBS table in the Gathering Place to sign up for one or more items to donate for the volunteer breakfast.

Alphabet Soup, one of Glen Mar’s Reconciling Communities, is celebrating Pride Month! You’re invited to stop by the table in the Gathering Place today and pick up a sticker! You can also learn more about Alphabet Soup, Reconciling Communities, The Trevor Project, and the progress the United Methodist Church is making with justice and inclusion for LGBTQ+ people.

Back To School – The school year is coming to an end, but the new school year will be here before you know it. In preparation, we’re starting to collect backpacks for students served by Glen Mar’s partner church, Ames United Methodist Church in Baltimore, as well as students here in Howard County. The need is always greatest for high school age students. Please be on the lookout for this type of backpack or consider a financial donation if that is more convenient. If you would like to help with this mission, or have questions, please contact Pat Lee.

Interfaith Vigil for Refugees, Asylum Seekers, and Immigrants – Sunday, June 29 at 5:00 pm, at the Oakland Mills Interfaith Center in Columbia and via Livestream (Zoom). This somber event commemorates two dates in U.S. history: June 6, 1939 when a ship carrying Jewish refugees was refused entry, and July 6, 1798, when the Enemy Aliens Act was signed. Your presence will show support for our immigrant community. Sponsored by the Columbia Jewish Congregation, along with several other faith communities and civic organizations. Exciting Concert – The Marimba Linda Xelaju will delight audience members and provide folks a strong dose of Guatemalan culture at a concert on Friday, July 18 at 7:00 pm in the Spirit Center. Concertgoers will get another bonus: seeing family members enjoy performing together (a family literally in concert). This is a free one-hour event.

Join Relay For Life Celebration – Glen Mar’s Angels for a Cure will participate in Relay For Life of Baltimore and Howard County on Saturday, July 19, 3:00–8:00 pm at Howard Community College’s Athletic and Fitness Center, 5500 Dragon Place, Columbia. Relay is an annual free event to celebrate cancer survivorship, remember those who lost their cancer battle, and raise money for the American Cancer Society. Duckpin Bowling! – Tuesday, July 1, 6:30-8:30 pm. Rising 6th-12th graders are invited to join us for the first Youth Summer Fun-tivity! Meet at AMF Southwest Lanes, 4991 Fairview Ave, Linthicum Heights, MD 21090. Drop off and pick up at the bowling alley. Bring $21 for bowling and snack $ if desired.
