- Cold Weather Shelter – February 23-March 1. In collaboration with Grassroots Crisis Intervention Center, local faith congregations, including Glen Mar, rally each year to provide food and support for those in need in Howard County. This year, Glen Mar’s sponsored week for the Cold Weather Shelter is set to run from February 23 to March 1. How can you help? Sign up here.

- Bring Your Grown-up to Sunday School! During February, we would LOVE to have you learn and grow alongside us! Participate in the Bible lesson, play games, or do an activity! Sign up now! Spots are limited!
- The Lenten Season is coming soon! Greeters, ushers and Welcome Center hosts for the Ash Wednesday Service on February 18 are needed! Assistance for Holy Week Services as well. Please email the Pastors’ Assistant if you can help!
OPPORTUNITIES TO GROW:
- Aging & Spirituality Class – Would you like the chance to explore deeper ways to grow in your relationship with God and Christ; to experiment with new ways to pray; to consider what it means to grow older in spiritually healthy ways; and to do all of that laughing and sharing together with a group of Christian peers? - Black History Month Opportunity – Tuesday, February 10, 7:00 pm. Glen Mar’s Social Justice Group invites you to a presentation of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s 1956 sermon “Paul’s Letter to American Christians.” Join us in Youth Lounge to listen to a recording of the sermon and discuss how King’s words from 60 years ago still apply to us today.
- Dancing Needles – Thursday, February 12, 1:00 pm. Do you enjoy knitting and crocheting? We need you in our prayer shawl group! We meet on the second Thursday of every month from September through June at 1:00 pm in room 144. Donations of yarn are always welcome.
- Habitat For Humanity – Saturday, February 14. Do you enjoy doing handy work? Or do you wish you knew how to do handy tasks around your home? The Glen Mar Habitat Crew welcomes you to join us, either way. You must be 16 or older to work on a Habitat site. We work the second Saturday of every month. If construction isn’t your gift, you can still support this wonderful mission by volunteering in the Restores. Contact Adrienne Taylor to learn more or to sign up.
- Lunch Bunch – Tuesday, February 17, 11:30 am in the Lower Gathering Place! Lunch Bunch is a group of “seasoned citizens” who meet the third Tuesday of each month from September through June for fellowship, fun, and of course, lunch! This month, bring a sandwich!
- Alphabet Soup – Tuesday, February 17, 7:00 pm. Looking for a safe space where you can be yourself? Alphabet Soup is a reconciling community, celebrating diversity and inclusiveness, and welcoming and affirming ALL people. The group meets on the third Tuesday of each month at 7:00 pm in Room 124. - Ash Wednesday Service – Wednesday, February 18, 12:00 pm and 7:30 pm. Join us as we begin the season of Lent-a season of reflection, repentance and renewal.

- Christian Summer Camps – The Baltimore Washington Conference offers sleep-away summer camps for 3rd through 12th graders at several nearby camps. Many Glen Mar kids and youth have enjoyed these camps over the years. Learn more here. Registration begins February 4.

YOUTH NEWS:
- Summer Mission Trips – We are offering two mission trips this summer. Home repairs with Carolina Rebuilding Ministry, June 21-27, for youth and adults currently in 8th grade and older. $300/person with discounts for women, confirmands, and 3rd or more family members. Urban ministry during Baltimore Mission Week July 20-24, for youth and adults currently in 6th grade and older. $125/person with discounts for adults and confirmands. Scholarships are available. - 30 Hour Famine – This year’s confirmation class will once again be taking on the 30-hour Famine to raise money and awareness of hunger related issues around the world. Please consider donating in support of their efforts at tinyurl.com/GM30HF-26.
- Super Bowl Party! – All 6th-12th grade youth are urged to join us tonight from 6:00-10:00 pm in Youth Lounge watching the best TV commercials of the year and possibly also the Super Bowl. Pizza and beverages will be provided! Please bring a side dish or dessert to share.

STEPHEN MINISTRY:
Yesterday, our Stephen Ministry trainees spent their Saturday morning learning how to support one another in their Christian caregiving. Social support is critical for all of us.
