Hello, Glen Mar Family!
It is a great joy and privilege to join you as your new Associate Pastor. My family and I are grateful for the warm welcome we have already received, and we are truly looking forward to getting to know each of you in the months ahead.
Let me share a little more of my journey. I was born in South Korea and spent more than half of my life there. In my late teens, I confessed Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. Through a series of powerful yet gentle encounters with the Holy Spirit, I became convinced of God’s call on my life and began the journey toward pastoral ministry. In my late twenties, by God’s grace, I was led to the United States. Since then, I have lived in several states while continuing both my studies and my ministry. Looking back, I can clearly see God’s faithful hand guiding every step.
My wife and I have two children, and spending time together as a family is one of my greatest joys. My wife is a registered nurse and has always been my steady companion in faith and life. Our daughter, Eunice, who will be a junior in high school this fall, and our son, Andrew, who will be a freshman, have been wonderful sources of encouragement. Whenever I admit that I’m feeling a little nervous about serving at Glen Mar, they simply smile and remind me, “Dad, you’re going to do just fine.”
In my free time, I enjoy watching movies and TV dramas. (The Korean ones, of course, don’t even require English subtitles—I understand every word! I thank God for that little blessing!) Our family also enjoys hiking and camping nearby from time to time. To be completely honest, camping isn’t exactly my hobby — it’s my wife’s. But for the sake of family harmony and the occasional escape from everyday life into God’s beautiful creation, I’m always happy to come along.
My hopes for ministry at Glen Mar are simple. I hope that together we will know God more deeply, grow together in faith, and rejoice as we witness what God is doing among us. I believe the church is most beautiful when people of every generation and every background worship together, encourage one another, and serve their neighbors with Christ’s love. My prayer is that Glen Mar will continue to be a community where the love and grace of Jesus Christ are experienced in tangible ways.
Thank you again for welcoming my family and me so warmly. I look forward to beginning this journey with you and seeing the stories God will continue to write among us in the days ahead.
