Dear Glen Mar friend,
The apostle Paul compares the life of faith to run-ning a footrace. In 1 Cor. 9:24 we read, “You’ve all been to the stadium and seen the athletes race. Every-one runs; one wins. Run to win. All good athletes train hard. They do it for a gold medal that tarnishes and fades. You’re after one that’s gold eternally.” (The Message). The Christian life is also not just an individu-al race but more like a relay, or a cross country event, where everyone participates, and together, we can win the prize. Christianity is certainly a “team sport,” as shown by the fact that we are all together one body in Christ, made up of many parts, many people with their own gifts to give.
In May and part of June, we’ll be examining how to run the race of faith together so that we can do the things God is calling us to do, as disciples and as a church, and be the community of faith God is calling us to be. Our theme will be Mission Possible: Reaching the Goal.
What would it look like to be able to reach more peo-ple to show and share the love of Jesus?
How can we reach out to one another in love to help everyone find their place in the race here at Glen Mar?
As we prepare for Commitment Sunday on June 11, we give thanks for the faithfulness that will allow us to pay off one of our two mortgage notes in the next 3 year cam-paign … and with your prayers, presence gifts, service and witness, we will be able to ensure Glen Mar’s continued growth and impact in our community for many years to come. It will take all of us, doing our part, but together,
“With God, all things are possible” Matthew 19:26.
Please join with me and the other runners for the race at Glen Mar in praying for one another and for the people God is calling us to reach, people searching for belonging and meaning, people needing Jesus and his love.
See you in Church,
Pastor Mandy
