Summer months brought opportunities to travel near and far, explore new things, and take time for adventure. It is a time of renewal. In the midst of adventure, many have found the livestream option of worship very helpful. In the midst of travel and adventure, we can still gather as a family for worship at our 9:30 am service or watch at a different time from wherever we are in the world. It is a wonderful way to stay “connected.” Yet, by the end of summer, we look forward to the grounding that is the fall season. The fall season invites us back to re-connect, re-center, and re-focus.  It becomes a time to re-connect with school, church family, and community, and to share adventure stories and pictures while being grounded through our spiritual disciplines.

August Family Worship will end on September 4, 2022, and will remind us that through God we are gifted and able to serve. This will usher in a season of discipleship. While every Sunday, we learn what it means to be a disciple, a follower of Jesus, we will learn more closely what discipleship means.

Fall Kickoff will be held on Sunday, September 11 at both the 9:30 and 11:00 am services. This year’s Fall Kickoff will coincide with Disciple Sunday where folks from our Disciple classes will lead worship and share their faith journeys and testimonies.  After church services, there will be opportunities to connect as a community with ministry information tables, fun games and activities, and delicious food prepared by our own George Dohner.

Sermon Series: The Gospel According to Ted Lasso: There is a wonderful and inspirational show on Apple TV+ called Ted Lasso. It is about an American football coach, Ted Lasso, who is hired by a British soccer team. The team that he is hired to lead has a lot of issues. He seemingly lacks the knowledge needed to lead a soccer team but something magical happens that changes the locker room and the members of it due to Lasso’s character, attitude, and leadership style.

There are so many gems found in this show.  There should be a warning that there is “colorful” and/or explicit language that may be inappropriate for younger ages and/or those offended by such language. Taking only the gems from this TV series and not the language, “The Gospel According to Ted Lasso” has been created. This sermon series will begin on Sunday, September 18 and continue through Sunday, October 9.  This series will focus on discipleship as taught by Ted Lasso. While it is helpful to have watched the TV series, you will enjoy the sermon series even if you have not.

Can you believe that the season of Advent is just around the corner?!  The Advent sermon series will be based upon the Adam Hamilton book, The Journey. This will coincide with small groups Bible studies from the same book.

Looking forward to “connecting” with you this fall!
