Dear Glen Mar friends,

Spring has sprung here at Glen Mar church as this Sunday we prepare to honor our graduates, celebrate the love of God so often revealed in mothers for Mother’s Day, and explore The Gift of Gratitude! You will not want to miss it. I also celebrate with joy the birth of a new baby son to Sean and Carolyn Danaher and today got to have a lovely lunch with a soon-to-be 90 year old Glen Mar friend. Life is bursting out all over and God is good!

Some of you may have read or seen on news media that a theologically conservative “breakaway” denomination called the Global Methodist Church was launched on May 1.  I wanted to write to say that Glen Mar is not a part of this new denomination, has no plans to join it or any other new denomination, and will continue to be a United Methodist Church, loving and welcoming all people of every description. We will continue to be who we are and do what we do, “Praising God, Growing Disciples and Serving the World.”

We are preparing for our Annual Conference of United Methodist clergy and lay members, our annual business meeting of the Baltimore Washington Conference of the United Methodist Church on June 1-3, to be livestreamed from Glen Mar! Our own Pastor Heerak will be ordained as a United Methodist elder at that conference. “Live” attendance will be limited but it’s a great honor to host this event with our sister churches. I hope you will pray for the Annual Conference and for all the great work that our churches do every day.
