Pastor’s Ponderings – Invitation to Holy Week

Pastor's Ponderings

Dear Glen Mar friends,

It’s almost Holy Week! I hope you will join us for the many meaningful worship and prayer opportunities available as we journey to the cross and to the empty tomb.  Our communications team has done a great job getting the word out to people who have been to Glen Mar for other things to invite them to join us, starting Sunday, for Holy Week worship. Please join me in praying especially for people who will join us as guests, that they would experience God’s love and feel the Savior’s touch, and feel called to be part of our church family. Be ready on Sunday to “host” our neighbors, with a smile and a spirit of hospitality!

Easter is a time that many people come to church who do not attend any church regularly. They may be “burned out on religion” or feeling that the church doesn’t want them. They may be unsure about whether the church is a healthy and good place for them to be, or whether “church people” are normal, friendly, people that they can relate to. They may be new to the area and in search of a congregation to befriend, or new to Jesus, wondering if Jesus really is Lord and can be trusted. Some may find themselves without a church due to various factors. We want everyone to know Jesus and the life-giving message of hope that Jesus offers. We want everyone to find a home at Glen Mar, and Easter is a chance to show and share the love of Jesus!

Between now and Sunday, would you especially ask God to put into your heart someone that God wants you to invite to Easter worship? On Sunday, I will give folks an opportunity to extend that invitation to Easter by texting your person during Palm Sunday worship (if you want to) inviting them to join you at Glen Mar on Easter.

I’ll suggest a text for those who want to use it that will be something like this:

Hey Amy!

I'm sitting in church this morning and realized Easter is next Sunday.
If you don't have plans, I would love for you to come sit with me at Glen Mar!
Are you free April 9?

Don’t miss out on all God has for you during this holiest of weeks. It all starts on  Sunday with palm processions, uplifting music, a meaningful message, and a recounting of the passion story, and it ends with the joyous chorus “Christ is risen! He is risen indeed!”

See you in Church,

Pastor Mandy

PS All Holy Week services will be live streamed for our online congregation if you can’t be here in person!
