As we move into another week of our rise – TOGETHER AS ONE journey, we continue to celebrate the incredible faith and generosity driving our mission through June 2028. This two-year stewardship campaign, rooted in the promise of Ephesians 3:16–19, is about more than just a single fund—it is about the collective spirit of Glen Mar as we praise God, grow disciples, and serve the world together.
The heart of this campaign remains our people, and this week we are excited to share even more personal stories from our church family. From our youth to our long-standing members, these voices highlight the deep sense of belonging and hope that defines us. We invite you to read these latest reflections from Glen Mar individuals and families, and discover how the transforming power of our community continues to inspire “immeasurably more” in all of us.
GOD IS FORWARD LOOKING
After moving to the area 27 years ago, Pat & Don Lee quickly found a home at Glen Mar — or perhaps, as they like to say, Glen Mar found them. From the very beginning, their family was welcomed with open arms, filling a row in the old sanctuary on Glen Mar Road and growing into a deep sense of belonging within the church community.
Over the years, their connection to Glen Mar has been demonstrated in countless ways. From mission trips and Bible studies to leadership roles and long-standing service, both have faithfully supported the church with their time, gifts, and presence. Their journey reflects not just what they’ve done, but how much they cherish being part of a community rooted in faith and service.
Even now, their focus is on what lies ahead. With gratitude for all Glen Mar has meant to them, they remain committed to its future and the ways it continues to impact others. As they share, “God is forward looking. Even as we age, even after retirement, He calls.”
“We will serve in whatever way the Spirit guides. If there’s a need, He always finds a way for us to help. We’re grateful for that. We’ll see you at Glen Mar for the next family gathering. In the meanwhile, be the church wherever you are.”

GUIDING A SPIRITUAL JOURNEY
“I heard about Glen Mar from an acquaintance, and I decided to give it a try. At the end of VBS, I got an invitation to see my child sing with the rest of the VBS kids the following Sunday. After I attended the service, I immediately felt that I belonged at the church,” said Fawcett Dunstan.
That first visit marked the beginning of Fawcett’s connection to Glen Mar — a place where she and her family quickly found both community and a deeper spiritual home. She continued to attend services, joined a Bible study for those new to the Methodist faith, and soon after became a member by renewing her baptismal vows.
“I am so grateful for the breadth of children’s programs that Glen Mar Church has offered to my children at every stage of their development. Now that my oldest child is getting ready for college, I am grateful that Glen Mar Church has been right there with me to help guide my child’s spiritual journey. Glen Mar Church is an essential part of my family’s spiritual life.” — Fawcett Dunstan
REFLECTING ON GIVING
Deborah Marshall’s story reminds us that the impact of generosity can ripple far beyond a single moment — shaping lives, strengthening faith, and inspiring others to give in return.
“In my early twenties, I moved back to my hometown, newly divorced and raising a young child. To say money was tight would be an understatement. My aunt, who had actually disapproved of me getting married so young, showed up at my door one day with a collection she had taken up at her church. As I recall, it was a few hundred dollars, but it felt like a fortune—and it helped me beyond measure.
Not long after this, my aunt suffered a stroke and moved into a nursing home. When my family was cleaning out her house, we made a startling discovery: her hot water heater was broken. She had been living without hot water for who knows how long. This woman didn’t even have hot water for herself, yet she went out of her way to gather a collection for me because she felt I needed it more.
I think about her sacrifice often when I reflect on what it means to give. Today, I am fortunately in a very different position financially. I give because I want to pay that blessing forward. I want to honor my aunt’s selfless heart, and above all, I want to honor God, who has given me everything. Her generosity changed my life, and I want to use what God has given me to do the same for others.” —Deborah Marshall
NURTURING FAITH
“We had the privilege of growing up in faith communities nurtured by our parents’ generation. We give in joyful response and to ensure that Glen Mar continues to thrive for our children’s generation.
Glen Mar has provided our kids a caring, Christ-centered environment with vibrant VBS, worship, music, youth group, confirmation, mission trip and Journey to Bethlehem experiences.”
— Karen & Doug Greenhorn
At Glen Mar, families like Karen and Doug’s remind us that nurturing faith today helps ensure a strong, Christ-centered community for generations to come.
We hope these stories have inspired you as much as they have inspired us. Each one is a reminder that God is at work in and through the people of Glen Mar every day. As you reflect on these voices, we invite you to consider your own journey—how is God calling you to serve, to give, and to be part of what comes next at Glen Mar?
