SPOTLIGHT MINISTRIES:
  • Cantata – Don’t miss this year’s Christmas Cantata on Sunday, December 21 at 9:30 am and 11:00 am in the Spirit Center. This is the perfect opportunity to invite a friend! Pick up a flyer or postcard today in the Gathering Place.
  • Day of Service Support Team Members Needed – We are looking for volunteers to help support the various activities taking place on January 19. How to sign up and get more info: visit the table in the Gathering Place, Day of Service or email the Day of Service Team.
OPPORTUNITIES TO SERVE:
  • Honor a loved one this Christmas and help beautify our Spirit Center by ordering a poinsettia! They are $22.50 each. Please order by December 14.
  • Christmas Eve Services Servers Needed – Disciples are called to serve! Please sign up to help! There is also a paper sign-up in the Gathering Place!
  • Guatemala Mission Trip – If you are interested in joining a team of Glen Mar folks going to serve at Steps of Hope Education Center in Santa Maria de Jesus in Guatemala April 14-21, 2026. Registration details coming soon! Please register by December 15.
  • Gift Card Orders are due Sunday, December 14! If you would like gift cards to arrive before Christmas, please place your orders by this Sunday. If you forget, don’t despair! E-gift cards make a great gift too and can be ordered anytime by following the instructions here.
  • Our Turn at the Day Resource Center – Saturday, December 27. One of 50 churches supporting the Grassroots Rt. 1 Day Resource Center, Glen Mar provides usually provides lunch on the 4th Saturday of every month. 8-10 adult volunteers are needed. Sign up here!
  • Communications Team Needs You! Help spread the word about what’s going on at Glen Mar! We meet on the 1st Tuesday evening of each month on Zoom! Our meetings are typically less than a half an hour! Contact The Communications Team to learn more!
  • Calling All Barbies! – Time to collect Barbies, Kens, Kellys, etc. for dressing and packaging on MLK Day of Service. We need many dolls—dressed or undressed—clothes, shoes, and accessories. During last year’s service day event we packaged 500+ dolls for the Salvation Army Thrift Shop in Ellicott City.
  • Join the Praise Service Tech Team – Be part of the magic that appears on the screen! Support needed for Sunday mornings and Wednesday evening rehearsals. No experience needed. Contact Max Mason.
UPCOMING EVENTS:
  • Lunch Bunch – Tuesday, December 16, 11:30 am. Lunch Bunch is a group of “seasoned citizens” who meet the third Tuesday of each month from September through June for fellowship, fun, and of course, lunch! You won’t want to miss it! George is cooking turkey!
    Alphabet Soup Christmas Party – Tuesday, December 16, 7:00 pm, at Beth’s house. Contact Jen for details. Alphabet Soup is a reconciling community, celebrating diversity and inclusiveness, and welcoming and affirming ALL people.
  • Nancy Saari Memorial Service – Saturday, December 20, 11:00 am. Reception to follow service in the Gathering Place.
  • The Longest Night – Sunday, December 21, 7:00 pm in the chapel. For many, the Advent and Christmas seasons come during a time of current or past mourning for loved ones as well as the state of the world. Come be in fellowship with other Christians and hear words of encouragement from our own Rev. Cathie Leimenstoll. Please join us at the Longest Night service and if you need to connect with a Stephen Minister, contact a pastor or email us.
  • Christmas Eve Services Wednesday, December 24, 4:00 pm Family Service (in-person and livestreamed), 7:00 pm Traditional (in-person and livestreamed), 9:00 pm Traditional and 11:00 pm Communion.
  • Journey Through Grief Saturday, January 10, 9:30 am. If you have lost a loved one and would like support & strategies to cope, join us for a six-week small group experience. We will share stories and support one another to help navigate the grieving process. If you’d like to be a part of the group, let one of the pastors know, email us, or sign up here.
  • Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service Monday, January 19, 8:30 am-4:30 pm. Mark your calendar now for one of the most fun days of the year! Don’t miss an opportunity to honor Dr. King’s legacy as well as have a lot of fun! For more information visit the Glen Mar website.
YOUTH INFO/EVENTS:
  • Youth Group – TONIGHT! 5:30-7:00 pm! Remember, “The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear.” Don’t miss The Gospel According to Elf!
  • Next Week – Sunday, December 21, 5:00-8:00 pm. Don’t miss the Super-sized Youth Group’s Annual Christmas Caroling and Gift Exchange! Bring a wrapped gift $5 or less and $5 for dinner! And dress warmly for Christmas Caroling!
  • High School Retreat – All 9th-12th grade youth are encouraged to join us at the Ignite Retreat in Ocean City, MD, March 20-22, 2026. Join 2,000 other students for a weekend of great music, powerful speakers, and a chance to know—deeply and unshakably—that you belong. Not because you’ve proven yourself, but because the Creator has called you beloved. Register here by January 14.
