MINISTRY SPOTLIGHTS:
  • Wish Upon A Star – A long-standing Glen Mar tradition, Wish Upon A Star provides Christmas gifts to those in need in both Howard County and Baltimore City through long standing partnerships like Howard County Public Schools, Ames UMC and others. Donations also help Steps of Hope families in Guatemala. Stop by the Gathering Place today to learn more and to sign up for gifts or gift cards. You may also sign up here.
  • Journey To Bethlehem is almost here! Outdoor Building Set up – Saturday, November 9 from 8:30 – 1:00 pm. Lifting, ladders, trucks and trailers, oh my! We need your help! Sign-up now to let us know you are attending! Want to be part of the cast or crew? Decrease your pastor’s anxiety and sign up now! And Be sure to let your friends and family know they will need to register to attend!

ACT NOW:

  • Ames UMC Thanksgiving Food Collection – Today through November 17, Glen Mar will be
    collecting Thanksgiving food items to support our partners at Ames United Methodist Church in Baltimore. Please pick up a bag with a list of needed food items from the table in the gathering place. Thank you for your continued support for our Ames brothers and sisters!
  • Calling all men! Men in Black, our men’s chorus, will be making another appearance on November 17. All men are welcome, and we’re rehearsing at 7 pm on Wednesday evenings in the choir room. Come join us! Questions? Contact Eric.
  • It’s almost the Most Wonderful Time of the Year! Honor a loved one this Christmas and help beautify our Spirit Center by ordering a poinsettia! Please place orders by December 15.
  • Operation Christmas Child is an organization that ships shoe boxes filled with toys, school supplies, and hygiene items to children around the world allowing us to share the love of Jesus with them. Shoe boxes will be distributed today, and donations and packed boxes can be dropped off Sunday, November 3 & 10. Questions? Email: OCC Team.
  • Calling all young actors! Sign up now to be part of the Family Christmas Eve Pageant. If interested, contact Julie. Deadline to sign up is November 15.
  • Stephen Ministry – If you are experiencing a stressful time, Stephen Ministry is here to help you connect with God in a way that you may not have experienced before. Realize that you are not alone with the challenges life brings. For more information about Stephen Ministry, speak to a Pastor or email Stephen Ministry.
  • The 11:00 Praise Band needs your gifts! – Do you play guitar, bass? Keyboard? Our 11:00am Sunday Praise team needs you! Please contact Max.
  • Glen Mar’s Kids needs you too! Sunday morning programs at 9:30 for infants through 5th grade need classroom assistants. Sign up to help once or twice a month (or more!). We especially need Nursery care (both paid and unpaid positions). Contact Minister for Children’s Ministries, Julie to volunteer or learn more.

UPCOMING EVENTS:

  • HOLA Toastmasters of Ellicott City – Next Meeting Tuesday, November 5 at 7:30pm. We meet twice a month on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday evenings at 7:30 pm. We have hybrid meetings both online and in person on first Tuesdays at Glen Mar and on ZOOM only on third Tuesdays. For more information, email HOLA Toastmasters.
  • Social Justice Group – Tuesday, November 12 at 7:00 pm in room 159. Passionate about social justice and want to make a difference in the world? Join us as we explore ways to support migrants arriving in D.C.
  • Dancing Needles – Thursday, November 14 at 1:00 pm in Room 144. Do you enjoy knitting and crocheting? We need you in our prayer shawl group. Prayer shawls are given to those in hospitals and those in need of special care as a reminder that others care and are praying for them. We also make baby blankets for our newborns, scarves for our armed forces, and now shawls for the Women’s Pregnancy Center.
    We meet on the second Thursday of every month from September through June at 1:00 pm in room 144.
    Donations of yarn are always welcome. If you know of someone you think may appreciate a prayer shawl/baby blanket or just want information, contact lo****@ve*****.net“>Lois Hildebrand.
  • Glen Mar Singles Social Network – Saturday, November 16. Are you looking for a social group of people who like to get together and do fun, interesting, meaningful stuff? Join us! We are a social group, not a dating group or a place to find a future spouse. We are a group of Christian singles—divorced, widowed, never married—who enjoy one another’s company.   • 70th Anniversary Celebration – Sunday, November 17 at 10:30 am. Join us for fellowship, fun and cake!
YOUTH INFO/EVENTS:
  • Youth Group TONIGHT! – 5:30-7:00 pm. Join us in the Youth Lounge for our monthly look at a biblical hero. We’re looking at the story of Joseph (of Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat fame) and the remarkable ways God used him to forgive and save his family. Bring $5 for dinner.
    Monster Mini Golf – Sunday, November 10, 5:00 – 6:30 pm. $20 includes golf and pizza dinner! Register by Sunday, November 3.
MUSIC CORNER:

Christmas Cantata – Mark your calendars! Love! A Gospel Christmas Celebration by Joel Raney will be performed on Sunday, December 22 at both the 9:30 and 11:00 am services. Contact Sophie Hong for more information.
