MINISTRY SPOTLIGHTS:

Jewels for Hope – Saturday, November 2 from 8:30 am to 2:00 pm. Come and bring your friends! We have lots of beautiful items that would make perfect gifts for the folks on your holiday list. We look forward to seeing you at this sale right here at Glen Mar!
Operation Christmas Child is an organization that ships shoe boxes filled with toys, school supplies, and hygiene items to children around the world allowing us to share the love of Jesus with them. Shoe boxes will be distributed today as well as next Sunday, and donations and packed boxes can be dropped off Sunday, November 3 & 10. Questions? Email: The OCC Team.
Journey to Bethlehem – December 6, 7, and 8 from 5:00–8:00 pm. Friday, and Saturday will be a walking experience, and Sunday will be a driving experience. Registration to attend the event is required, and registration opens November 1. Interested in being part of the cast/crew/prep or cleanup? All Saints Day – Sunday, November 3 at the 9:30 and 11:00 am services. Submit photos and names of saints (family, friends, neighbors/community members) in your life who have passed from labor to reward over this past year for our Sunday, Nov 3 celebration of All Saints Day. Please email photos and names to Worship by Sunday, October 27.
The North Carolina Mission Team Needs your help! Please consider donating funds to purchase mattresses for the Windsor, NC Mission Facility.
Ames UMC Thanksgiving Food Collection – October 20 to November 17, Glen Mar will be collecting Thanksgiving food items to support our partners at Ames United Methodist Church in Baltimore. Please pick up a bag with a list of needed food items from the table in the gathering place. Thank you for your continued support to our Ames brothers and sisters!
It’s almost the Most Wonderful Time of the Year! Honor a loved one this Christmas and help beautify our Spirit Center by ordering a poinsettia! Please place orders by December 15.
Wish Upon A Star – The Wish Upon a Star program is again assisting about 40 families with clothing, food, and toys, and also providing support for Everstand (Board of Child Care) and the Grassroots Crisis Intervention Center. Beginning Sunday, November 3 you can participate in two ways: stars will be available for selection before and after Glen Mar Worship services, or individual gift signups will be available online through SignUp Genius. The deadline for signing up for a gift or gift card is Sunday, November 24. Gifts and gift cards must be returned to the church by Noon on Sunday, December 1. For more info, visit: Wish Upon A Star.

Grassroots Meals Ministry – Tuesday, October 22. Do you love to cook? Looking for a way to serve those in need in Howard County? Sign up today to provide a meatloaf or two for the Grassroots emergency shelter, serving families in need in Howard County. Our Next Turn @ Rt. 1 DRC – Saturday, October 26 from 11:45 am – 2:00 pm. One of 50 churches supporting the Grassroots Rt. 1 Day Resource Center (DRC), Glen Mar provides lunch on the 4th Saturday of every month. Family Matters Potluck Dinner – Saturday, November 2 from 6:00 – 7:30 pm. Do you have kids in preschool through middle school? We are a small group that typically meets every 1st Saturday of the month. Bring the whole family, an entrée or side dish and join us in the Glen Mar Youth Lounge.
Upcoming Sermon Series – Sunday, November 3 – November 24. Bless this Mess: Giving Thanks in a Messy World. Paul says Christians are to give thanks in all circumstances. Has Paul seen my bank statement and met my family? How can we practice gratitude in the midst of our real life? Come bring your real life to worship, and part with a blessing.

HOLA Toastmasters of Ellicott City – Next Meeting Tuesday, November 5 at 7:30pm. We meet twice a month on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday evenings at 7:30 pm. We have hybrid meetings both online and in person on first Tuesdays at Glen Mar and on ZOOM only on third Tuesdays. For more information, email HOLA Toastmasters.

Christmas Cantata – Calling all singers and instrumentalists – plan now to be part of Love! A Gospel Christmas Celebration by Joel Raney, Sunday, December 22 at both the 9:30 and 11:00 am services. Rehearsals begin on Thursday, September 26. Contact Sophie Hong for more information.
