Discipleship, middle school, The Messenger 2022-05-01

By Jen Rowell, Minister for Middle School Youth

Sunday morning youth programs continue to meet every Sunday morning at 9:30. The high school youth have been digging into the Sermon on the Mount, while the 6th and 7th graders studied the life of Jesus and the start of the church, and the Confirmation Class explored what discipleship looks like. In addition, a group of 12 5th through 7th graders met weekly during Lent over Zoom to delve into the basics of Christianity found in the book of Romans. In May, the Confirmation Class will wrap up the year with an overnight retreat at West River Camp.

The middle and high school youth have been meeting monthly for fun activities together. They went ice skating, did a competitive team treasure hunt, had a crazy Survivor Game Night, and raced each other on the video game “Mario Kart-y.” In May, the middle school youth will do the high ropes course at Sandy Spring Adventure Park.
