Day of Service Back to In-Person for 2023

On Monday, January 16, 2023, Glen Mar hosted the ninth annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service with AMES Memorial and St. Johns Baptist Church as co-hosts. The event was a community-bridging opportunity where everyone was invited to meet the emotional, physical, and spiritual needs of our neighbors and ourselves. It was a relationship-building event with activities on the side. The event was an example of what faith in action looks like and being the hands, feet, and listening ear of God.
Family Gets a Real “Home for the Holidays”

Thanks to Habitat for Humanity of the Chesapeake, Whitney and her family moved into a three-bedroom renovated rowhome in Baltimore shortly before Christmas. Habitat workers, many from Glen Mar Church, restored this home with almost 100 percent volunteer labor. It was a project that took many workdays held over the course of 15 months.
More than 65 Glen Mar Volunteers Supported 45 Grassroots Cold Weather Shelter Guests in December

Planning for this year’s Cold Weather Shelter proved to be a challenge for Grassroots. Given ongoing community concerns about the risk of a COVID outbreak, many local congregations were hesitant to offer to host guests in their building. At the same time, funding for hotel rooms was uncertain at best.
Wish Upon A Star 2022 – Thank You
Thank you to all of you who graciously supported the 2022 Wish Upon A Star project. This year Glen Mar was able to bless 32 families plus 12 youth from the Board of Child Care with gifts and gift cards.
