Pastors Pondering – Breakfast with Jesus, Lunch with the Pastors

Pastor's Ponderings
Breakfast with Jesus, Easter, lunch with the pastors, Pentecost

Dear Glen Mar friends,

Easter is not just a day, it’s a whole season….50 days to cover Easter Day to Pentecost and the coming of the Holy Spirit. 50 days that the disciples got to spend in that liminal space with an empty tomb and a risen Lord on the loose. 50 days to do resurrection breathing exercises and to get ready for what God was going to do on Pentecost. Today’s church lives in a similar space, in the aftermath of Easter, dealing still with “real world” issues that still haunt us, still with wars and rumors of wars, and yet, the Risen Christ still shows up, with breath and food and peace and instructions for how to live as Easter People.

This Sunday, we’ll gather at the Lord’s table for communion, the “Easter breakfast” of discipleship,  as we study Jesus’ resurrection appearance on the beach, where Jesus has breakfast with his hungry disciples. Jesus gives Peter the chance to affirm three times his love for Jesus, to compensate for his three-fold denial. And Jesus ties loving him to caring for his sheep. I hope you’ll join us for this time together as we are fortified for the Christian journey, and as we learn what difference Easter really makes, for fishermen like Peter, for hungry sheep, and for Glen Martians like you and me. You won’t want to miss it!

Also, we are having Lunch with the Pastors on May 15, in person at the church at 12:30 in Youth Lounge. Come on by, we’d love to meet you, catch up with you, tell you more about Glen Mar, or hear what’s on your heart these days. RSVP to of****@gl********.org by May 12 so that we can have adequate food

See you in Church,
Pastor Mandy
