SPOTLIGHT MINISTRIES:
  • Communications Team Needs You! Are you savvy with social media? Do you like ‘being in the know’ and sharing the latest on Facebook or Instagram? If so, the Glen Mar Communications Team is the place to be! Please reach out to the Comms Team, to help spread the good news and the ways God calls us to praise, grow and serve!
  • 2026 Day of Service – Monday, January, 19, 8:30 am-4:30 pm. Join us for one of the most fun days of the year. Help pack 90,000+ meals or participate in one of 20 other on or offsite service projects. Appropriate for ages 3 to 103. Come for an hour or come for the day. Sign up here or in the Gathering Place today!
  • Good Friday Cantata – Calling all singers and instrumentalists! Be part of the Good Friday Cantata Choir and Orchestra as we present John Stainer’s The Crucifixion on Friday, April 3, at 7:30 pm. Rehearsals begin Thursday, January 29 at 7:00 pm. Contact Sophie or stop by the Spotlight Ministry table for details.
OPPORTUNITIES TO SERVE:
  • Food and Clothing Collection! As part of the upcoming Day of Service on 19 January, we will be collecting food and clothing items for people in the Ames, Manna House, and Howard County communities. At this time of year, warm clothing is especially welcome. This includes coats, hats, clothing, and shoes for people of all ages. We will also collect food, with an emphasis on canned vegetables, fruit, and meat. In addition, we will collect toiletries such as shampoo, soap, hygiene products, and toothpaste. Thank you for all you do to support those in our community who are in need.
  • Our Turn at the Day Resource Center Saturday, January 24. One of 50 churches supporting the Grassroots Rt. 1 Day Resource Center, Glen Mar provides usually provides lunch on the 4th Saturday of every month. 8-10 adult volunteers are needed to prepare one or more dishes, half of whom will stay to serve lunch on site or do other jobs (e.g., greeter, shower/laundry monitor, pantry).   • Friendly Reminder! Gift Card purchases are to be made on SUNDAYS. They are not available for purchase during the week. Visit Glenmar’s website on how to order gift cards online. Thank you for support!
  • Have a facilities question or need? All facilities-related needs and questions should be routed through our Minster for Facilities! Brian is here to help! Please contact our Minister for Facilities, Brian Tucker or submit your facility question!

UPCOMING EVENTS:

  • Lunch Bunch Tuesday, January 20, 11:30 am in the Lower Gathering Place. We are “seasoned citizens” who meet the third Tuesday of each month from September through June for fellowship, fun, and of course, lunch! This month is potluck! If you have any questions, contact us!
  • Free Fall Prevention ClassTuesday, January 20, 1:30 pm. Join us for a free presentation by the R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center on steps to take lower your risk of a fall with serious injury. Please register here.
  • Alphabet Soup Tuesday, January 20, 7:00 pm. Looking for a safe space where you can be yourself? Alphabet Soup is a reconciling community, celebrating diversity and inclusiveness, and welcoming and affirming ALL people. The group meets on the third Tuesday of each month in Room 124.   • Summer Youth Mission Trip Information Meeting Sunday, February 1, 4:30 pm in the Youth Lounge.
  • Scout Sunday Sunday, February 8, 9:30 and 11:00 am. Join us for Scout Sunday where we celebrate the birthday of Scouting in America! Also, if you are a scout and are willing to serve as an usher (pass out bulletins and collect the offering) or a greeter (welcome friends who are worshiping with us), please let the Pastors’ Assistant know so that you may be added to the schedule!
  • Pancake Supper Tuesday, February 17, from 5:30-7:00 pm. Support an interfaith refugee ministry.
  • Brew & Belong – Sunday, February 22, 12:15 pm. Want to learn more about Glen Mar and how to become a member? Join us for coffee and conversation as we learn about how to become more connected in the church, meet the pastor, ask questions, and learn about membership at Glen Mar! Sign up here!

  • VBS 2026 Rainforest Falls July 13-17. Registration begins March 1.
YOUTH INFO/EVENTS:
  • Youth Group – No Youth Group Sunday, January 18. Take part in the Day of Service on Monday, January 19, anytime from 8:30 am-4:00 pm!
  • Next Week – Sunday, January 25, 5:30-7:00 pm. Don’t miss the Gospel According to Mr. Beast!
  • Snow Tubing – 6th-12th grade youth (and parent drivers) should register for our Snow Tubing outing on Saturday, February 7 at  by January 25.
MUSIC MINISTRY:

STEPHEN MINISTRY:

Our Stephen Ministry training class had the opportunity to have our own Pastor Chris join them this week to talk about dealing with major medical crises. We are grateful to Pastor Chris for sharing his wisdom regarding pastoral care. Stephen ministers are here to help those who are dealing with illness. Please keep our trainees in your prayers.
