Christmas Cantata! Calling all singers and instrumentalists – plan now to be part of Love: A Gospel Christmas Celebration by Joel Raney, Sunday, December 22 at both 9:30 and 11:00 am services. Rehearsals begin on Thursday, September 26. Contact Sophie Hong for more information.

Guatemala Mission Trip – Glen Mar is sending our first team of volunteers to work with Steps of Hope Education Center in Santa Maria de Jesus, combining working with children and facilities improvements. Outback Is Back! Enjoy dinners from Outback Steakhouse on Wednesday, October 9, 5:30 to 7:15 pm, at Glen Mar. Meals costing $25 each must be purchased by October 1. Dine-in and carry-out meals are available. The menu will include both sirloin steak and chicken, macaroni and cheese, Caesar salad, bread and butter. Jewels for Hope – Now is the time to consider donating slightly-worn jewelry & scarves. A drop-off container will be in the Gathering Place from September 8 – October 20. This sale event is to benefit Hope Works of Howard County, the county’s Rape Crisis and Domestic Violence Center. Mark your calendars today! The event is on Saturday, November 2, 2024 from 8:30am – 2:00pm.

Journey to Bethlehem – Mark your calendars for our annual Christmas gift to the community December 6, 7, and 8 from 5 to 8 pm. This year we’ll “walk” on Friday and Saturday and have a “drive night” on Sunday. Do you have a costume to return? No shame involved! See Pastor Mandy for questions.

Stephen Ministers Are Care-Givers, God Is the Cure-Giver. The role of Stephen Ministers is to give care. They listen, empathize, encourage, pray, and provide emotional and spiritual support on a weekly basis to hurting people for as long as the need persists. Our Next Turn @ Rt. 1 DRC – September 28, 2024 from 11:45 am -2:00 pm. One of fifty churches supporting the Grassroots Rt. 1 Day Resource Center (DRC), Glen Mar provides lunch on the 4th Saturday of every month. HOLA Toastmasters OPEN HOUSE – Tuesday, October 1 at 7:00 pm in Room 145. Joining Toastmasters can help you present well, mentor others, advance your career, and much, much more. Family Matters Pot Luck Dinner – Saturday, October 5 from 6:00 – 7:30 pm. Do you have kids in preschool through middle school? We are a small group that typically meets every 1st Saturday of the month. This is a great opportunity to make friends with other families with kids at Glen Mar! Bring the whole family, an entrée or side dish and join us in the Glen Mar Youth Lounge.

Dancing Needles – Thursday, October 10 at 1:00 pm. Do you enjoy knitting and crocheting or would you like to learn? We’d love for you to join us our group. We gather on second Thursdays each month in Room 144 to knit, crochet, and share together. We create prayer shawls for those in need of special care as a reminder that others care and are praying for them. We also make baby blankets for our newborns and scarves for our armed forces. If you wish you can knit or crochet at home and we can arrange to have your finished items picked up or dropped off at church. Donations of yarn are always welcome. Contact Lois Hildebrand.

Habitat For Humanity – Next work date is Saturday, October 12. Do you enjoy doing handy work? Or do you wish you knew how to do handy tasks around your home? The Glen Mar Habitat Crew welcomes you to join us, either way. You must be 16 or older to work on a Habitat site. We work the second Saturday of every month. If construction isn’t your gift, you can still support this wonderful mission by volunteering in the Restores. Contact Adrienne Taylor to learn more or to sign up.

Bible Sunday – Sunday, October 13 at 9:30 am and 11 am. 3rd Graders! It’s time to get your very own Bible! Join us in worship on October 13 for a special presentation. If you can’t make it, you can still get a Bible – just see Ms. Julie the next time you’re at church.

Trunk or Treat Fall Festival – Saturday, October 19, 10 am-12 pm. Join us for a fun-filled, family-friendly morning of games, activities, and some cool trunks! Volunteers are needed to decorate their vehicle and hand out treats, help with games and activities, or donate candy. Sign up today to attend or to volunteer. YOUTH INFO/EVENTS:

Youth Group – Sunday, September 22, 5:30 – 7:00 PM. All 6th – 12th grade youth are invited to join us in Youth Lounge as we Serve the World. Help assemble hygiene kits for immigrants. Please bring $5 each for dinner.

Middle School Retreat – October 11-13. 6th – 8th grade youth are invited to spend a weekend at Camp Manidokan having fun together while exploring what it looks like to be a peacemaker. The cost is $210 per person. Register by October 3.
