Dear Glen Mar friends
We are continuing our series called Mission Accepted—Last week we talked about the Gift of Gratitude, had some amazing music ministry from our youth and children, honored graduates, and celebrated all God’s gifts to us, knowing that everything we think is “ours” really comes from God as a gift. And if we’re blessed…we’re blessed to be a blessing to others.
This week, we’ll talk about the role of prayer and what can happen when we stay connected to God in prayer and show a willingness to let God use us. We’ll also have baptisms as part of worship, and a Lunch with the Pastors at 12:30.
Looking ahead, I wanted to highlight a few other opportunities for fellowship and service that are coming up!
Pentecost is coming! Sunday 6/5 is Pentecost, that festival day in the church that celebrates the coming of the Holy Spirit and the birth of the church! It will be Commitment Sunday as well, and we will have our Confirmation service on that Sunday afternoon. As part of our celebration, our Worship Team is seeking folks who might be willing to read the Lord’s Prayer in a language other than English. If you speak another language, and would be available on that Sunday morning, please contact Pastor Melaina.
We will have a free community health fair right here at Glen Mar on 5/21 from 11-4 pm. Come out for screenings, vaccinations, blood drive, health information and more. For the latest info, or to register, check out https://glenmarumc.org/events/health-fair-2022/
Thursday, 5/26, is a “No-Cook Thursday!” Come to Glen Mar to enjoy a delicious food truck dinner with your family—bring a lawn chair and check out the sunset, or get supper before Scouts, small group or choir practice! Details to follow…but mark your calendars now.
See you in Church,
Pastor Mandy
