- The MLK Jr. Day of Service planning team is looking for enthusiastic volunteers to serve as activity/room assistants to ensure our guests have a positive experience. Activity assistants will collaborate with room leads, guide participants through the tasks, and share information about the impact of their efforts. - Howard County’s Cold Weather Shelter will house guests in a hotel during December and early January, and they are asking local churches to help supply meals. Youth Group Christmas Party – Sunday December 17, 5:30 – 8:00 pm
It’s everyone’s favorite Sunday at youth group, our annual Christmas Caroling and Gift Exchange. ** Bring a wrapped $5 gift and $5 for dinner. We will be traveling around the area to bless people in our church family who have a hard time getting out with some Christmas carols, then coming back to the church for where “Machiavelli meets Christmas” in our white elephant gift exchange.
Lunch Bunch – Tuesday, December 19 at 11:30 am
Lunch Bunch is a group of “seasoned citizens” (55 and up) who meet in the lower lobby for fellowship, fun and, of course, lunch. This month, it’s Potluck & Piano, featuring Charlie Borcherding. Bring a main or side dish. If you have any questions, contact the Lunch Bunch team.
The Longest Night Service – Thursday, December 21 from 7:00 pm in the Chapel
For many, the Advent and Christmas seasons come during a time of current or past mourning for loved ones as well as the state of the world. Do you have kids in preschool through middle school? We are a small group that typically meets every 1st Saturday of the month. (Because of JTB it’s the 2nd this month). Do you have a heart for social justice? Welcome and affirm people to be their whole selves? Resist and interrupt systems of oppression? Or simply want to learn more about social justice issues? Glen Mar’s Social Justice Group seeks to live out the vows of baptism through education and activism that build and bridge communities. Join Glen Mar’s Social Justice Group.
Dancing Needles – Thursday, January 11 at 1:00 pm in room 144
Do you enjoy knitting and crocheting or would you like to learn? We need you in our prayer shawl group. Prayer shawls are given to those in hospital and those in need of special care as a reminder that others care and are praying for them. The group is also making baby blankets for our newborns and scarves for our armed forces. We usually meet the second Thursday of every month at 1:00 pm in Room 144 to knit, crochet, and share together. If you wish you can knit or crochet at home and we can arrange to have your finished items picked up or dropped off at church. Donations of yarn are always welcome.

- Honor a Loved One or Special Occasion – Sponsor one or two Spirit Center altar flower arrangements for a weekend. You have the option to either purchase or donate to “Shut-In” ministry. The cost is $40 per arrangement.

- Donated Altar Flowers are used by our “Shut-In” ministry – members deliver flowers to Glen Mar members/attenders who cannot attend in person. If you would like to be a part of this ministry, please contact Janet.
- “Purchased To Keep” Poinsettias are available for the sponsors to take home after the Christmas morning service; Altar flower arrangements are available after the 9:30 service.
