SPOTLIGHTS . . .

  • Vacation Bible School (VBS) – Registration begins this Friday, March 1. Kids currently in kindergarten and older are invited into an amazing undersea adventure where they’ll experience the ever-flowing, never-ending love of God this summer at Scuba VBS – July 8-12, 9am to noon, with an extended day option.   • 30 Hour Famine – Glen Mar’s Confirmation Class went without food for 30 hours to raise money and awareness for world hunger earlier this weekend. Support their team today or in the Gathering Place on Sunday, February 25 by purchasing baked goods or giving a donation to World Vision.
  • Easter Food Collection – In partnership with Ames United Methodist Church in Baltimore, and My Sister’s Place Women’s shelter in Baltimore, Glen Mar will be collecting food items to help up to 250 families celebrate Easter. Celebrating Success with over 20 beds made during the MLK Jr. Day of Service build and over 450 off the floor in Howard County! We are collecting donations for new twin sheet sets.

Glen Mar Early Learning Center – Registration Now Open

Registration is NOW OPEN to the community for the Glen Mar ELC. We are busy planning our 2024-2025 school year. We offer full-day care for infants through 5 years old. Check out our website for more information and to schedule a tour today!

Glen Mar’s kids need YOU!

Sunday morning programs at 9:30 for infants through 5th grade need classroom assistants. Sign up to help once or twice a month (or more!). People are especially needed in the Nursery – paid and unpaid positions. Contact Julie Metakes to volunteer or learn more. OR, sign up today!

Altar Flowers – Sponsor/Purchase Flowers for the Sanctuary

Honor a Loved One or Special Occasion – Sponsor one or two Spirit Center altar flower arrangements for Sunday Worship. You have the option to either purchase or donate to “Shut-In” ministry. Youth Group – Sunday, February 25 at 5:30 pm

Glen Mar’s week for supporting the Cold Weather Shelter is this week, this is when we join with other area churches to help our unhoused neighbors get through the coldest months of the year. Come out to Youth Group and we will be packing meals for the guests at the Cold Weather Shelter. Bring $5 for dinner.

It’s time to provide for our week! Seeking support with bulk food items, individually wrapped sandwiches, and dinners for 30 people. Your assistance ensures a warm and nourishing environment for those in need during this crucial period. Join us in making a positive impact and contributing to the well-being of the community. Grassroots Meals Ministry: Make a Meal – Tuesday, February 27

Family Matters Pot Luck Dinner – Saturday, March 2 from 6:00 – 7:30 pm

Do you have kids in preschool through middle school? We are a small group that typically meets every 1st Saturday of the month. This is a great opportunity to make friends with other families with kids at Glen Mar! Bring the whole family, an entrée or side dish and join us in the Glen Mar Youth Lounge.

HOLA Toastmasters of Ellicott City – Tuesday, March 5 at 7:30 pm

Toastmasters International is a nonprofit educational organization that builds confidence and teaches public speaking skills through a worldwide network of clubs that meet online and in person.” Our group meets twice a month on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday evenings at 7:30 pm. We have hybrid meetings both online and in person on first Tuesdays at Glen Mar and on ZOOM only on third Tuesdays. For more information, email Rajan.

Habitat for Humanity – Next build date is March 9

Do you enjoy doing handy work? Or do you wish you knew how to do handy tasks around your home? The Glen Mar Habitat Crew welcomes you to join us, either way. You must be 16 or older to work on a Habitat site. We work the second Saturday of every month. If construction isn’t your gift, you can still support this wonderful mission by volunteering in the “Restores“. Mission Trip Information Meeting – Saturday, March 9 from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm

Are you interested in attending the Mission Trip to Plymouth, NC June 23rd – 29th, but have questions? If you have never been on a mission trip or didn’t attend our mission trip last year, this is a meeting for you! Find answers to … Where are we going? Where will we sleep? What do we eat? Do we interact with the locals? Join us on March 9th from 11am to 1pm in Youth World. Lunch will be provided.

Social Justice Group – Tuesday, March 12 at 7:00 pm

Passionate about social justice and want to make a difference in the world? Join us as we explore ways to support migrants arriving in D.C.

Dancing Needles – Thursday, March 14 at 1:00 pm

Do you enjoy knitting and crocheting or would you like to learn? We need you in our prayer shawl group. Prayer shawls are given to those in hospital and those in need of special care as a reminder that others care and are praying for them. The group is also making baby blankets for our newborns and scarves for our armed forces. We usually meet the second Thursday of every month at 1:00 pm in Room 144 to knit, crochet, and share together. If you wish you can knit or crochet at home and we can arrange to have your finished items picked up or dropped off at church. Donations of yarn are always welcome.

Easter Eggstravaganza – Saturday, March 23 from 10:00 to 11:00 am

Children and families can enjoy a fun morning of egg hunting, crafts, cupcake decorating, and more. Please register today so we know how many to expect.

Youth Summer Mission Trip to Plymouth, NC – June 23-29

This summer’s youth mission trip will return to Plymouth, NC, partnering once again with Carolina Rebuilding Ministry. Youth completing 8th grade and older can participate. The cost per person will be $200. Register by April 13th with a $100 deposit to secure your spot. First training is on March 9. Learn more and sign up here.
